Dolby Atmos on Sonos Arc+Plex+Shield?

Hi Guys,

I have done some research on this (appreciate there are some threads on the forum) but in all honesty I’m still not sure what to expect, your thoughts & feedback are very welcome.

Situation:
I have recently upgraded my Sony HD tv to a new LG C9 OLED, with that I also upgraded my Apple Tv (4th Gen) to a Shield (2019) as this seems to get best feedback for direct playback.
I have ordered a new Sonos Arc to replace my Playbar in the hope of upgrading my Dolby Digital 5.1 experience to Dolby Atmos in the new 5.1.2 setup.

I know the LG C9 supports Atmos via their eArc port, I know the Shield supports Dolby True Vision & Atmos and the Sonos Arc definitely supports Atmos. However I have seen some posts suggesting people are running into issues getting the Atmos to play with Plex, also DTS issues down mixing to the Arc. (I think this has been acknowledged by Sonos suggesting a firmware fix is needed).

Is anyone able to confirm if my new setup should be able to play a HVEC UHD Dolby Atmos tracks via the LG/Shield/Plex and Sonos Arc?

Happy to provide more details/context or spec if this will assist.

Kind Regards
Tylor

My current setup: Nvidia Shield Pro '19 with C9 and Sonos Arc.
I have been running into problems with DTS codecs but not any of Dolby’s. I posted a situation that I run into with DTS not transcoding while Emby does, but of course there’s no reply here or on Reddit’s sub.

Yeah, same issue, I see you also posted on the older thread I found " Sonos Arc soundbar DTS to AC3 Transcoding not working"

George articulated the issue quite clearly and with a workworund using Kodi (with Plex Connect) until Sonos/Plex address the transcoding DTS issue.
