Dolby True HD/Atmos audio drop outs

Unless PMP is addressing the WASAPI and bitstreaming differently than those others are.
That is exactly what I am thinking. I want to narrow out Windows Audio Session API. I have a feeling it is the Windows 10 implementation. Unlike embedded, Windows has the full Protected Audio Video Path. I want to eliminate that. The code that prepares the TrueHD/Atmos bitreams for PMP is the same across platforms. The difference is the API on each respective OS.

If that was the case though, wouldn’t it be the same for any Windows application that uses WASAPI? I have Kodi set to do the same (WASAPI / Bitstreaming) but didn’t have the issue there.
Logic would dictate that. But it could swing the other way as well and that would tell us a different story, i.e. the issue shows with embedded as well.

Okay, I have done some more testing. The Atmos added soundtrack was a red herring. Issue is the same whether it is just pure TrueHD or TrueHD + Atmos.

For me the audio cuts-out every 23 minutes, possibly exactly at 23 minutes and 18 seconds. This happens whether the video sync mode is set to audio, or to video (drop/duplicate audio). And it does not happen with DTS HD-MA files.

My hardware is a Win 10 PC, HDMI out of an Nvidia GTX 1050 into an AVR, then connected HDMI from AVR to TV. Refresh rate switching enabled.

this has been my experience in the past with Plex media Player but not with Open Plex , I have windows 10 Nvidia GTX 960, bitstream into AVR, video / Audio sync on , have not tested it with that off yet but will try next

I am now experiencing audio dropout with DTS-HD MA. All that I believe has changed is updating to latest PMP 1.2.4. Anyone else have this issue?

Hi All,

Yes, i have the Same issue. :frowning: Every 25 minutes, nur only Dolby trueHD. Any news about a Solution?

This is my Hardware and setting too! But I don’t understand, why I have not the drop outs with kodi when the issue is coming from the video driver?.

Have you updated to the latest 1.2.5.606 build?

Hi, Yes i have!

I tested this yet again, almost a year after first posting and i can also confirm about every 20 min it drops out! As a Plex pass subscriber why hasn’t this been addressed yet ? running windows 10 5th gen Intel i5 NVIDIA GTX 960 (HDMI 2.0) windows sound set to 7.1 Plex set to passthrough with no display sync set , output 1080p 60 to projector. i found with display sync set to on and passthrough engaged i get a odd stutter every so often. hopefully Plex team will give us a update.

I too have the same problem with my Atmos setup.

Plex is on a PC with a i5 6600k and a Nvidia 1070, streaming to a Nvidia Shield.

This thread is regarding dropouts on PMP. The Shield is a different client and you need to post in the Plex AndroidTV threads.

I know this is an old post but I’ve been battling this issue since this post was started and still haven’t been able to find a solution. I just fired up a 4k TrueHD 7.1 film, both audio and video are direct, both look and sound great but I get 1-2 second drops in audio every so often, probably around 15 minutes or so between. I’m wired on a gig connection to the media room where this is playing and I’m showing the bandwidth isn’t an issue. Logs show absolutely no issues but I can post them if anyone would like to look. Running the latest Windows update. This is a custom build system with a GTX 1050, using ARC to the TV and HDCP 2.2 to a Nakimachi atmos sound bar. Capture

Also, I’ll be installing Kodi just to see if this issue follows. The fact that this hasn’t been posted on in two years makes me think someone found a fix.

Works in Kodi so it’s something with Plex. Ah well, looks like the Atmos capable movies will have to be played from Kodi instead.
