Dolby TrueHD converted to stereo from Sony 900H Android Plex App

I’m sorry I’m budding into this thread, but I’m completely perplexed on something. I’m seeing similar 2 channel output from TruHD 7.1 signal, but I’m on Plex for Windows and cannot find any settings to allow passthrough of any sort. Would someone please help a lost soul? Thanks!

I believe the Plex Windows app is not really being supported any more and does not have support for HD audio. I know when I used Kodi I had to setup the Windows audio for the amount of channels that are supported and needed to use the HDMI HD audio of your video card as your audio output device.

Plex Documentation
Windows & Mac Desktop (Plex for Windows & Mac)
Plex Media Player
Plex HTPC

Plex for Windows is supported and receiving updates. It was last updated December 8, 2021.

Plex Media Player is no longer receiving updates. It was last updated May 19, 2020.

Plex HTPC is the replacement for Plex Media Player.

All three support HD audio passthrough via HDMI (dts-HD MA & TrueHD).

Unsure about using analog audio outputs from PC (never tried it).

In Plex for Windows, go to Settings → Player
Select the audio device.
Change Audio Device Kind to HDMI.
Passthrough options will then be available.

Example from my PC. VL260M is a TV I used for a monitor. It is connected via HDMI to a Nvidia GTX 750 Ti video card in my PC.
