Dolby Vision Video Preview Thumbnails with pink/green tint

Hi, I noticed that every Dolby Vision media I have in my libraries, despite being played with correct colors, has all the preview thumbnails with the classic pink/green tint. Is this a known bug?

I have latest Linux PMS version and latest Android TV player version (on a Sony A80J).

I can’t test them on other players because if I try on a non-Dolby Vision device I get the error “File is unplayable. Color space is not supported.” (I really thought that they would be played, even with the wrong tint).

Hi, any feedback on this?

Pink & green?

That must be a profile 5 video.

Profile 5 cannot be transcoded because there is no HDR layer to fall back to.
You get bad colors because Profile 5, by itself, can’t map correctly for the transcoder.

It’s a design constraint of how Profile 5 DV is. (by design) It’s for DirectPlay streaming-only consumption.

Ok I already knew that playing issues, but is it normal that all the seeking thumbnails suffer of this tint problem?

Yep. Totally normal. There is no “RGB” layer to grab a static frame out of.

Stinks, doesn’t it ?
