HDR MP4 Files Have A Purple And Green Tint

So I have a couple of MP4 4K HDR files that have a green/purple tint to them. At first I thought it was just because my Mac’s screen isn’t Dolby vision, but Plex doesn’t transcode or downgrade it to standard SDR like it would 4K to 1080p. Am I wrong in assuming it works like this? Even on my TV that has support for Dolby Vision, it still has this hue to it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: So I tested on the native Plex app on My LG CX and it worked with the right colors. However if it tries to transcode it the colors get messed up again. Is there no way to transcode it without Dolby Vision and have it fall back on SDR?

There are 2 common types of Dolby Vision, Profile 5 and Profile 7. You can read more about the differences here, but the gist of it is that Plex can only tonemap dual-layer Dolby Vision files that have HDR10 fallback, which is usually only found on UHD Blu-rays.

Dolby Vision files from streaming services are single-layer Profile 5 and don’t have HDR10 fallback, meaning Plex can’t tonemap them to SDR.
