For “What’s on later” and “New shows on tonight”, remove the possibility to record if the media is already available in PMS libraries and allow to watch it directly from there
What if the version, that is already on the server, is in a very bad quality?
Or has burned-in subtitles in Hindi you might not want?
Or has only stereo audio, while nowadays you can sometimes get surround sound from OTA transmissions?
Or was censored heavily or cut-down to make room for 2 accumulated hours of advertising?
or…
It could stay allowed but the user could look it directly from libraries in proposing it on the “What’s on later”
Or the medias in the libraries could be in better video/sound quality
It must be an user choice, maybe the user don’t know the media is already available because no link between the TV Guide and the PMS libraries
So we can agree upon that what you really want is an indication that the item in the EPG is already present in the library. And ideally a convenient way to look at it
Enabling the user to make an informed choice whether to schedule a recording or not.
Exacty !!!
And if the Advanced guide is used, it could use the media data from the libraries (posters, actors, synopsis, …) and no more download it.
The refresh of the Advanced Guide will be faster and in the correct language.
I already had some “What’s on” with the synopsis in english but this one is present in french in my library
It will save bandwidth
+1 Vote.
OttoKerner, This would be great. similarly when browsing upcoming films. For example, I am building up my Film Library by periodicly searching through the upcoming films, when I see one I want to record, (especially a James Bond Movie) I set to record and often find it’s been broadcast and I have recorded it before.
Early 2021 clean-up: duplicate (based on what Otto and the OP worked out about the actual scope of the suggestion)
