Don't auto play next Podcast episode if starting playback from a specific episode

If I start playback of a Podcast from main podcast ‘Play’ button then fair enough I would expect Plex to play (ideally only unlistened) episodes in the order the Podcast was set for.

However if I manually click an individual podcast episode’s ‘Play’ button I would NOT expect it to Auto-Play next episode. Especially if I’ve switched off ‘Auto Play’ from within app Settings > Experience screen options?

While I appreciate the ‘Auto Play’ option likely currently only applies to Videos I would suggest that either:
a) It should be made to apply to Podcasts too?
or
b) never Auto play next Podcast episode IF started from episode specific Play button?

Many thanks in advance for your thoughts on this.

I agree that this behavior is weird. I complained a while ago about it, and I was told that basically all podcasts are playlists from start to finish, and you’re simply starting somewhere in the middle of that playlist when you start an episode. I agree with your assessment though. Sometimes I don’t want it automatically playing the next 50, like when I’m going to sleep…

Glad I’m not the only one that finds the current Podcasts behaviour odd & unwanted, from a user perspective @hawkinsb

And you correctly highlight just one example when that behaviour is more than a little inconvenient!

Now added as a new post in Feature Request forum Don’t auto play next Podcast episode if starting playback from a specific episode for better visibility and hopefully people to up vote (via button next to title at top of thread)
