Don't close plexamp on adroid when swiping up

Server Version#:1.21.1.3795
Player Version#:3.4.0
On my Android phone, plexamp closes when swiping up after selecting the square button (when I want to clean up apps, but not my music player). But the free player , Plex doesn’t, it just keeps playing…
Wouldn’t it be possible to have this behaviour on the premium player plexamp as well?

Hey Johnny,

You work against Android when you swipe away recents. It’s an Android platform feature to request onClose instead of onPause when you swipe away the recents card for an app.

I dont think Plexamp can do anything about this. I also clean up my recents, but not religiously, I only close applications that I use rarely. My daily applications (Signal, Plexamp, and chrome) I never swipe away.

I would consider reading one of the many, statements by Android Engineers and Android ROM Community engineers on clearing recents.

Ok, but my point is : the free plex android player doesn’t close and keeps on playing when you do this. Why not at least give the choice to do so in a setting in the premium player?
I hear what you’re saying. I develop small vb.net stuff and hide the red cross in the corner to prevent windows users to close the application because it’s not the right way to close.
Nasty habits die hard you know…

Hm interesting, I hadn’t noticed that the normal Plex app does this.

Perhaps it is a result of Plexamp’s audio engine being different than the normal Plex app?

I’ll have to play around with it and see.

I noticed applications that use the new Android 11 Mediaplayer apis (Youtube and YTM) both stop playback when I swipe them away. However Google Play Music, when it was still available, did not stop playback when being swiped.

Nasty habits

And yeah I hear you, was currently asked to dev for iOS which means using MacOS. There is a lot of little things I find myself unlearning
