Downgrade the app

I just checked and yes you can send it one from one ios device to another. I put the file on my nas and the cloud, in files I long pressed on the ipa, clicked share and airdropped it to my ipad and it installed.

edit: I saved a copy to the phone and that worked as well to send over.

If you have a network share you can place the file on you can mount that from your iPad. Open the Files app, select the ellipsis menu at the top-right, then select ā€œConnect to Server.ā€ The rest is pretty standard.

To copy the file, browse the share, long-press the file in question, then select copy. Then navigate to the destination folder, long-press an open space, and select paste.

I still haven’t downgraded the app but just wanted to check if I downgraded the app on iOS will it work fine?

Update: I just followed my own instructions again to reinstall plex on my kid’s ipad and everything still works. you might get an alert to update the charles proxy, but you don’t need to. you can use the version that direct downloads from the main instructions.

I wanted to download some TV shows for a flight on my kid’s ipad and the new version just downloads all the episodes (50 in this case) with ZERO grouping in the downloads view. it also won’t auto advance to the next episode which is… just unbelievable. whoever is in charge of this app really needs to just… go away.

Follow my instructions in post 20 of this thread. Make sure you go slow and it’ll all work just fine.

**I followed the steps in post 20 and I stumbled (this was 100% a user error). For those of you doing the process on a MAC, these are my simplified steps (at least for me). Took me 3-4 minutes and voila, I have all the features again.

Simplified procedure on a MAC:**

Prerequisite: brew installed in command line. If you not installed, you can install it with:
/bin/bash -c ā€œ$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)ā€

Plex should be deleted from your device (iPhone / iPad)

  1. Install ipatool and ideviceinstaller
    brew install ipatool
    brew install ideviceinstaller

  2. Login to App Store with ipatool (use the email associated with your Apple ID)
    ipatool auth login -e xxx@gmail.com

  3. Download the Legacy Plex app (ID = 383457673; version = 871812101)
    ipatool download -i 383457673 --external-version-id 871812101

  4. Remove metadata from package file
    zip 383457673_8.45.ipa -d iTunesMetadata.plist

  5. Connect USB-C cable between MAC and iPhone / iPad
You may be prompted to ā€œtrustā€ the computer on the device

  6. Install the patched Plex version
    ideviceinstaller -i 383457673_8.45.ipa
