I didn’t read @shondreas’ post as negative or condescending, merely a response to your post in which they try to explain some history.
I think you’re reading far more into it than there was.

As a game developer, I completely agree with @McLovinCheddar - we also deal with massive amount of data, and such a simple case of a database with downloaded songs is pretty easy to implement.
Hearing that there are performance issues doesn’t necessarily mean (for me at least) that the dev team doesn’t have needed skills, I’m pretty sure that this is a matter of priorities.
They don’t have infinite development team and they need to manage their resources, so unless we speak, optimization will stay at lowest priority and nothing will change with the limit (which was probably slapped as a temporary workaround for said issues).

I wasn’t trying to be condescending here, but stating facts. To you and less than 200 people that voted for this, full library downloads is important to you. Saying that it is important to you, and that you wish it would happen, is worth saying. What isn’t worth saying is the speculations you think are the reasons it isn’t being done. Or how easy it is to implement your idea in other realms or apps so it should be just as easy here.
I would love full audiobook support with Plex. I and over 2,000 others have voted for it in this forum. I am not going to nag them about how Audiobookshelf can easily do this (so I’ve heard. I use Plexamp) so Plex should be able to do it just as well. I do not work for Plex and I do not have control over where the company is heading or what they will be prioritizing in the short or long term. I think it’s in poor taste to come in here and tell people how to do their job to your liking when you’re on the outside looking in and you have no clue what the dev’s requirements are.
I don’t want to keep going back and forth on this. Im a dev, so I will speak to topics about the dev aspect of things. This is space for people to freely discuss the subject, so without a static post/message from the company, I will speculate. If you dont agree, I dont care. At this point I am wondering why you are even here talking back to me ![]()
One thing that I did not get from all you criticism, is what is your stance even on this…
Yes or No to unlimited download?
