Download Location in New Windows App

Oh gosh, I just re-read my post. That’s a horribly ambiguous typo. Sorry @AndyAS; I appreciate your ping.

No, we haven’t implemented download location control yet. I’m doing what I can to position this work directly behind selectable download quality setting.

I’ve just downloaded plex and I am surprised this wasn’t a feature. I’ve got a windows surface I use for travel so storing on my external drive is definitely a must!

I appreciate it takes time to implement stuff but it sounds like this was already a feature but has been taken away so I am amazed its taking this long.

Nearly a year later and no progress :frowning:
I needed this feature for a laptop which has 256GB SSD wich is nearly full but got an external HDD. The combination of not beeing able to convert the media and not beeing able to select where it will will be saved makes the download function pretty useless for me.

It has now been 1 YEAR since the release. Is there any movement on transcoding and download locations in this app?

If you are not going to address these BASIC FUNCTIONS, why not allow people to use the Old Windows app that still has this functionality

Keeping the thread alive, and still waiting for what seems like a really basic and necessary feature.

I can’t believe it’s been this long and the app is still as bad as it is. I recently tried it again after a year and all the same problems exist. Plex for windows is an embarrassment, trash UI, no download location, no transcode settings. Honestly plex just throw in the towel and tell us all to buy ipads, just be honest at this point. There will be no windows version of a plex player.

Thanks Matt!

Yeah, I don’t get why it runs SOOOOOO slow and clunky. I’m running a Surface Book 2 with the graphic base. It should be humming along on this thing and the whole program runs like a dog. Takes forever for the library to populate on my screen, scrolls horribly, and screen presses or mouse clicks take forever to register. Anyone know why in the world this is such a problem?

It has now been 550 days since the release. Is there any movement on transcoding and download locations in this app?

Talk about condescending and a stupid response.

Well, we still need it. It is absolutely necessary on our Surfaces.

Setting up for a long trip (1 Year) and bought myself a 2TB drive hoping to bring a significant portion of my library with me and ran into this problem. I understand how development stuff works and would argue that core features like this could easily take priority over whatever gimmick this gaming stuff that’s currently being implemented is. (Willing to eat my hat if it turns out to be awesome… sorry in advance)…

Anyways found this post from 2019 and noted it’s still alive so adding a great big +1 for the feature to allow you to choose sync location (Currently using a symlink which is simple and reasonable workaround for now), to transcode before sync and to allow arbitrary number of downloads of unwatched items or at least “All unwatched” not quite sure of the usefullness of downloading all TV shows (I know somebody wants to, but most of us are resource limited by storage)

Anyways… +1 and happy coding plex team… I’m hoping between my laptop and my 1TB sd in my tablet I’ll be able to report back in a year that things went swimmingly.
