I must be going blind, for the life of me I am unable to find the option in the new plex for windows app where I can specify where to save the video files I download. This was an integrated feature in the old Plex Windows Store app,
I have no interest in setting symbolic links in my operating system. this is a basic operational need for many people,
There’s no such option.
The “download” feature is aiming for a specific use case: downloading a file for offline use within the Plex for Windows app. It simply isn’t designed to be used for other scenarios like moving files to a custom download folder.
WHY is it not designed for storing to a custom download location?
A specific use case? How about a tablet computer? or a laptop computer? they have limited storage capacity
This feature was and is still available in the Windows store version of plex.(which you have now hidden)
If download location is just a specific use case ( whatever that means) why in your documentation to you refer to Symbolic links to make it functional. That proves the need for this basic usability function.
I often download large amounts for travel, which is why I have the SD card that has more capacity than my internal hard disk. Is this not the specific use case that the download facility is for?
@tom80H that’s exactly me and the people on the below thread want to do. Download a file for use by Plex offline. Just that anyone with a Hybrid Tablet generally need to segment their data.
Add me to the list. My SSD is going on 5 years and syncing large numbers of movies every few weeks writes an insane amount of data to my C drive. I’m wearing out my boot drive faster than my 2 other 1TB SSDs that I have dedicated for storage and games. I wanted to point it to my storage drive so it doesn’t kill my more expensive boot drive so quickly.
