Download Subtitles from Plex to Local Media?

Hi Everyone,

My father is mostly deaf and the integrated subtitles feature from Plex has been absolutely amazing for him. I used to have to search and edit subtitle files from sketchy sites and am very thankful for this type of support from Plex.

My question is around whether or not I can take a subtitle file that is downloaded from Plex, and save it locally onto my server. I guess I am just afraid that this feature will disappear in the future, and would love a digital copy in the same directory as the movie (mostly peace of mind).

Is this a possibility at present?

Thank you so much, and Merry Christmas!

There is no feature in Plex to do this. You can manually search through your Plex appdata folder to look for these but the folder structure is hashed so it’s not easy to identify.

Your better option might be to install the Subzero subtitle agent. That will do the same thing as Plex but save the subtitles along side the movie file.

Try WebTools. [REL] WebTools (Unsupported AppStore)

If you’re on Windows, put https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit into your toolbox as well.
