Download to device

Just a suggetsion, didn't know where else this would go.

It would be awesome for mobile clients, to do a direct download of content from the Plex Media Server to the mobile device's internal storage and playback offline. So that if you're going to get on a plane you can quickly transfer your movie or music or whatever. Of course you would have to have a fast upload at home, but if you were at home the transfer would be fast, and way easier than using the device's desktop software, and go through the mess of plugging it in and all that.

Thoughts?

There’s another app called Klexi that can do that already. The native iOS apps do not yet. No specific roadmap for if/when it will happen.

Generally when I travel I just rip/grab a few itunes native movies and sync with iTunes to watch on the iPad.

I use an app called EMIT. It consist off a free PC component working as a server. On your iPad you can put movies in a encode-queue and after encoding you can upload them to the iPad.

It is a new App and works verry well. But the current version can’t transcode movies if there is a special character (e.g. german “Umlaute”) in the path or file name.

It is called PlexSync, and is one of the new beta/PlexPass features

Way to be late to the party, this was before PlexSync existed =P. What a stroll down memory lane, wow Plex has come a long way.
