So I turned on the new Downloads feature and was immediately disappointed. I keep getting the error item could not be downloaded swipe to remove or tap to retry and this is just to download music playlists. The weird thing is that it sometimes works? I tried downloading a playlist of videos and that worked on first try. I then tried downloading just a single album of music and it didn’t work but after several attempts (rebooting my server pc etc.) it all of a sudden worked but still cannot get my playlist download to work. And keep in mind that all these things still work like a charm with the Sync feature. Never had an issue there.
Overall, other than the fact that I still can’t get Downloads fully working, this seems like a step back to me in terms of the user experience. For example, with Sync, I could use the web interface and choose to sync whatever I want to any of my devices, it’s seamless and everything would show up there telling me what I currently have synced to which device, I can choose to remove anything I want etc. But it seems like the download feature does not have this option?
Also, when it comes to Music, obviously there is the Plexamp app which is made for that and I love it for the most part but again, when it comes to downloading songs, it has a limitation of 24h for playlists which is why I just stick to the Plex app even for music. Another reason is again not having the ability to see what you have downloaded/synced on each device using the web interface. Maybe this should be posted as a feature request but I think it would be great to have this option for Downloads in general just like it works with Sync and also to include Plexamp downloads. For example I can choose to download an album to my Plexamp on android using the web interface.
Anyways, I’d appreciate some help in order to fix Downloads and I’d also like to know if the web interface sync/download to devices here to stay or will be removed?
EDIT: Also, seems like there is no pause option anymore? The only way to pause the download is to disconnect the device from the internet and close the app. But then downloads resume automatically if you open the app.
