Downloads of Playlist fails

I’m running server Version 1.23.4.4775
Using plex web on a Mac, I see Download for TV shows, but not for music. Any ideas?

Downloads is newly available for Android or for the Plex for Windows/Mac desktop app. It is not available for Web. The “Download file” option you see there is just a straight file download using the browser. This is not the same feature.

As that option is listed as “Download file”, that option is only available at the individual file level, so movie/tv episode/or music track. You should see it in the … menu to the far right.

ahh, ok. I confused Mac/Windows for Web on Mac/Windows. I will try with the actual client.

OK, tried with Windows client, Version 1.33.0.2444-a220eae4
Windows 10.0.19042
I created a smart playlist. Music, 5 stars, pop/rock
I downloaded, set to original (most are flac).
It worked once. I delete the playlist, and tried again. This time, “an unknown error occurred”. Stuff like this:

Jul 06, 2021 19:52:05.159 [4672] ERROR - [Web] Sending POST request with Content-Type "text/xml". This can result in an unnecessary OPTIONS preflight request.

Please let me know how I can help debug this, or what logs I should send to where.

Also, if I Download smart playlist, will PLex keep them in sync intelligently? Meaning will Plex only download what’s changed, and delete what’s not on the server anymore?

Deleted what from where? If you deleted the playlist from your server, but kept the Download job in Plex for Windows, that job won’t work anymore since the playlist doesn’t exist on the server, even if you create a new playlist with the new name. You need to manually delete the Download in Plex for Windows then start a new Download.

Yes. The Download should match whatever you see in the Smart playlist.

Sorry, I deleted the playlist from the plex download area in the client on windows. I’ve even tried quoting the client, then deleting the sync folder, since it seems to recreat the sync folder on disk as needed.

Is there some local db or other cache files in app data local that also need to be deleted to clear out any remanent of a download sync to start over?

No, deleting the playlist item should be all that’s needed. If you can provide me exact steps you did I can try to recreate.

I click the 3 dot menu for my playlist and selected Download. The playlist has 545 tracks. At the end of the download I get the error “an unknown error occurerd”.

Can you provide the android logs?

@anon18523487 , if you are replying to me, I cannot. I’m using Windows client and Linux server. I’m happy to provide logs, if you tell me what you want and how to get them to you.

@AllanMarcus Ok, get me the logs for the Windows app, Windows/Mac app logs | Plex Support.

@anon18523487 you got it! Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.
plex_logs.zip (432.6 KB)

@AllanMarcus We’ve already made some changes in PMS to address some Download related issues. Can you upgrade your PMS and recreate the Download to see if there is a difference? Please provide me new logs if you still see the error.

@anon18523487 I’m running 1.23.5.4801. Failed :frowning:
Desktop.zip (1.2 MB)

I see the errors. Not sure of the cause. I’ll have to get back to you.

Hi. Any progress with downloads on Windows?
