  • Download doesn’t work over cell network even if the “wifi only” setting is disabled
  • No synchronization between library and downloads:
  • if media is downloaded trying to play it from the library will try to play over the network;
  • Playing downloaded media doesn’t show “skip intro” and “skip credits”
  • Resume play is not synchronized between library and download (if download was half played and switching to library of the same media, it will start from the beginning)
  • No indicator in the library if media is downloaded : when displaying the media, the download icon used to be filled if downloaded; when showing the available media covers, there would be a download icon if the media was downloaded, same as the check mark if viewed

How are you even downloading shows? I see i can download each and every epispde of a show one by one, but i cant set criteria like “download next 5 unwatched” like in the legacy app. Am i missing somethings? If not, this is beyond NUTS.

I found same issues for iPadOS.
Add these ones:

  • No button for “Download full season”. Only available to download Ep. one by one.
  • Playing a downloaded Episode, “Next” button is not available. You have to close (X button) and choose a new episode.
  • You can not group downloaded episodes by season or TV Show. They are all mixed together in the same list.
  • Download menu, does NOT show played files. Even no status indicator for partial played files.

I am having the same experience and hope there is a fix/update coming soon. It seems they totally destroyed what was perfectly acceptable download functionality in this release.

Download is so lacking I’d rather go back to the old app until it gets more developed.

They made the download function almost unusable.

No way to download “next unplayed episode”.
No sync of watched status
No nice library view of what is downloaded. I liked having a library view with a continue watching and recently released of just downloaded content.

I had been having some issues of my iPad apps crashing so tried to updat to see this would fix it but now I want the old app back. I’ll take putting up with crashes over this useless download function.

I often take my iPad to a bar I go to that doesn’t have good WiFi so used the download feature quite often. This is almost unusable in this form.

I thought it was me when I coould not find the download button for shows. I hope they don’t intend to leave it like that. It’s definitely a worst feature experience so far. I’m also experiencing where It’s also transcoding shows I thought it should just save that’s in HVEC main.

Updated to version iOS 2025.14.0 (1037). Download button still don’t showing. And when transcoding movies, the subtitles become huge. Don’t understand how can mess so much from the old stable 8.45 version. Seems like everything is wrong. Every update has problems.. don’t understand how the Plex guys don’t see obvious things that I only need one minute after install to see that is wrong.

On my phone (iPad pro is staying on old for now) loaded 2025.14 as well. There is now a download season option but it is still all or nothing. Still no “download next unwatched” options and there has been no post from Plex that that is something coming. Downloading tv shows almost has to have that option.

Finalllyyyyyy… grandfathered accounts fixed on this updated. 2025.15.0 (1045). In time everything will be back to normal. Plex will always be the best streaming app. Just a little patience and Plex guys will go back on track. Now just need to fix the transcoding embebed subtitles in MOV_TEXT. When transcoding they become huge… but I have confidence that Plex devs will ear us once again. :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

So, I’ve just tried to download multiple things on my new iPad and it just says failed almost instantly. Download works fine on my iPhone. Any suggestions? I believe I have all the latest versions

What do you mean grandfathered accounts fixed?

If you created an Plex pass account before 2022 and a client account with no Plex pass before 2022 with this big iOS Plex iPad update, if you share with client account it didn’t show download button. With this beta realease the download button already shows.
