Downloading medadata(poster artwork)

When Plex downloads the poster for a given movie, does Plex download all available posters or just one of them?

All.

There’s a Voting thing at TVDB and TMDB and without doing any testing or investigation I would assume the poster from those primary agents that is delivered would be the poster that’s gained the most votes. Before ANY poster is delivered it has to have at least one vote - He discovered one day when one he added (there were none) never appeared in the main listing, until he gave it a vote… lol - TVDB is where that occurred. If you happen over there and don’t see a piece of fanart in it’s main listing or have not gotten a poster, give one of them a vote.

I’ll also assume that for TVDB and TMDB the poster that is delivered will be the poster that’s been ‘elected’ by having the most votes. That’s a guess, but it sounds good.

I mean I’ve usually got about 10 for any given movie or TV Show. At least one from TVDB and TMDB and a collection of others from FanArt I guess.

I’ve got the standard agents in their proper places on top of the lists in their respective tabs - TVDB, TMDB, PM - and ‘FanArt’ Agent always right under them in second place in the list with Local Media Assets in last place everywhere.

It’s rare that I actually add a poster to these other posters that were automatically acquired, but if I do drag and drop one there it shows up (eventually) with the other ones. The usual way I add a preferred poster or piece of artwork I create is through LMA and a proper name, then dropped along side the item in the library, or it’s sub-folder.

I even have the non-English versions - from FanArt I assume, not often auto-selected, but there in the bunch just the same.

So why do you think Plex downloads them all? I mean, only one of them can be displayed at any given time. So why download 10, 20, even 30 of them just to display a single one.
Does clean bundles remove the unneeded copies?

Not to my knowledge. I clean bundles often and those posters are still there.

I know of no setting anywhere to get rid of the ones you don’t want, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a way to do it somehow.

@OttoKerner / @astrofisher ? Any insight?
