Downloading videos from Photo library fails or is impossible

I’ve been trying to set up a Photo Library for myself and my partner, as we’re currently sharing their performance videos through my personal Google Photos account, and they’re taking up way too much space in Google Photos (50+GB of videos and photos). As part of this process, both of us need to be able to easily download the videos in the library to our phones to share to social media. I have a Lifetime Pass subscription, and I’ve added my partner to my Home. I’m on Android, my partner is on iOS.

While I have the option to download the videos in the library, either from long-pressing the video in the Timeline or Library (… > Download), or opening the video and tapping the triple-dot menu and selecting “Save”, either of these actions fail and simply crash the app with no logging.

On my partner’s phone, the iOS “Share” icon is greyed-out on videos, identical to kylekahn1’s no-response post from October of 2019, and they’re unable to download the videos. Photos in the Photo Library can be downloaded without issue, and easily shared with other apps, from both phones, iOS or Android. This greyed-out icon persists across any Plex account, both my Pass account, and their account in my Home.

This is a bit of a two-part question, then: Is there a known issue with downloading videos in Photo Libraries on Android or is this failure expected behavior, and is the greyed-out Share icon on iOS expected behavior? I would really prefer to find a good method to use Plex’s Photo Library to support this project, as I have boundless essentially-free storage at home, and cloud storage is expensive to just share the same performance videos and photos back and forth with my partner.
