No video in android devices on my photos library

Hi,

In my photos library I have a lot of photos and videos. I have an issue with videos : audio plays but video remains with loading animated icon.

I have this problem only with android players. Tested with Nvidia Shield and two android phones. Problem is NOT present on my desktop application (Windows, v1.39.1.2763).

I tried to play with quality settings with no luck. Funny fact : if I move the exact same video to a video library it can be read without problems.

I want my videos to stay along with my photos, so I can parse them together.

Any idea to make it work ?

No one with same problem ? I need help, what can I do ? It’s very anoying, can’t see family video anymore.

I have had the same problem for over a week

I’ve setup my family photos and cell phone videos to get transferred to my plex photos folder

I have an Nvidia Shield plex client , with my plex server running on a QNAP NAS. Worked great for a couple of years

well, for about a week, the photos show up as well as the video , but as Gr3g notes, the videos do not play - I hear audio but I get the “circular arrow” loading Icon

I had recently updated the plex media server on my QNAP - I down graded to the earlier version, which did work. I also reinstalled the Plex client on my QNAP

Still have the same issue

The videos play well on the web client - and I will test in the next day or so on a different platform- I have a roku box somewhere I can fire up

I have had the same issue for a couple of weeks

photos library will play audio, but not video on cell phone videos all other libraries work fine

My main setup is a Plex DVR running on a QNAP NAS
Nvidia Shield Plex Client

I have reinstalled both the plex DVR and Client and have updated them - no effect

I have tested other clients here are my results

Channel Master CM7600 Android 7 Does Not Work
2017 Nvidia Shield Pro Android 8 and 9 Does Not Work

Roku 4 Ultra Works

Fire TV Gen 4 Stick Fire OS 7.240 Does Not Work “unable to play media” error
Fire TV Gen 4 Stick Fire OS 7.242 Does Not Work no error message

The Nvidia Shield was running on Version 8 when I first encountered this - Yesterday it updated to version 9 but the problem was still there

Likewise Fire TV Gen 4 Stick had the issue before and after an update

Interestingly enough, my 6 year old Roku Ultra had no issues playing videos in the photo library

likewise , If I copy videos from my photos library into a separate video library - the videos play just fine

My suspicion is the Plex Media Server is the culprit - its not handling this in Android TV devices well

The fact that various Android TV devices from version 7 to 9, from 1 year old to 6 years old tell me that its not the client that is suspect
