Downloads on IOS

The first update of the new experience: 2025.0 (686) has introduced downloads for offline playback which is great! Downloads are much quicker and I love seeing the realtime accurate download speed :+1:t4:

I’m having 2 issues though. It shows my estimated remaining storage space as much lower than it actually is. For example I had 90GB free on my iPhone and it estimated around 20GB.

Another issue is the downloads don’t update the watched status on my library items. Each time you select the download it just plays from the start of the file. I love the feature to ‘prefer downloads’ with playback and it would be great if you had a download badge on the relevant files in the library so everything syncs up. Hope this can be addressed in future updates!

Can you download more than two items at a time and will it complete them with your device locked?

Can’t event test this out as the app says i only have estimated 2GB space free so downloads won’t even start. This is while I have over 100GB free on my iPhone! Hopefully this is a bug that get’s fixed in future updates!

Well that’s annoying… :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

The first issue is being worked on. TY for reporting :+1:

Prefer downloads and syncing watched status will be addressed in a future update.

Will we be able to download with our device locked on the new version?

Yes that should be working in the preview today and is a big part of downloads we want to work well.

Hooray!

Is this using the modern Apple-recommended background download task mechanism?

Yippee, hooray!

Brilliant news thank you! For some reason the latest TestFlight build 704 isn’t showing up for me but I will give it time and keep refreshing. Excited for the new app to keep getting refined and take shape!

There aren’t skip forward/backward controls during playback of downloaded videos.

Also, would we ever be able to airplay/cast videos that are downloaded?

In addition hopefully downloaded files will still let you ‘skip intro’ and ‘skip credits’ as currently that functionality does not work. Hopefully the aforementioned ‘prefer downloaded content’ integration will fix this but hopefully that is on the list for future improvements as well. Thanks!

Hey just to confirm i am testing the latest IOS build 2025.0 (742) and download do now resume where you left them off which is great. They still do not let you skip intro or credits and the download file playback does not sync the with the main library.

Also to stay on topic for this thread, unfortunately the download space remaining bug is still there.

Here is a screengrab of the space estimated remaining when i start a download@

And here is my actual space remaining:

As you can see 128.32GB free is somehow being calculated as less than a 1GB by the app.

I know this is on the list of fixes but hope this gets sorted soon as its pretty much a deal breaker for me being able to use the new app experience in any meaningful way.

Thanks!
