Downloads/Transcoding slow

I’m having a weird issue on the server, live transcoding works fine meaning when I watch a show/movie and its transcoding ‘live’ there are no issues.

However, when I transcode for download or optimize - it goes really slow, hours for a single episode. If i restart the server, the first file I download goes fast, and at regular speed. The 2nd file and any other further files go slow.

I created a log file and did this

  1. started plex server
  2. started a download on my iphone for File A – the speeds for the transcode are good, and the file starts to download.
  3. Cancelled the download
  4. Started the download again for File A on the same iPhone, and the speeds are horrendous.

I’m not sure if anyone has seen this before? I’m attaching the log files in case it helps.

Anyone have any idea on this? Can’t figure it out. Seems specific to Plex - other transcoding to the same file works fine…

Seems like the issue is the transcoding throttle - it seems to pretty much be making the download transcode job very very slow - is there a bug or a way to tweak the behaviour?
