i have mkv-h264-aac5.1 videos - a lot.
Currently, it only streams and the aac comes out as 2 channel pcm.
My amp doesn't support aac, only dts, ac3 in 6 channel.
if try to transcode, it just crashes.
please tell me how to get this working that i can playback the described videos as h264+ac3

@DonDavici, how can i configure to transcode mkv+h264+aac to mpegts+h264+ac3 please
why can't i change the media path? i am using v. 1.07 and after i save the config with a changed media path dreamplex saves the pictures in the new path. but when i restart the box the media path turns to the old path (/hdd/dreamplex/ instead of /hdd/Vuplus/dreamplex/).
the config und cache pathes do not make problems...

dreamplex is a must but i cannot get the subs working, it doent detect them,
i use srt files for subs

I still haven't worked out how to get my movies to transcode aac5.1 to ac3.
All my movies are mkv+h264+aac5.1 and they play fine on my Dreambox 800 (original), but the audio is only PCM.
My amp only supports DTS/AC3 in 5.1.

However, I'm having troubles getting subtitles working, but I don't know if it's me who's doing something wrong, or if it's not supposed to work the way I'm trying.
My setup:
* Client: DreamPlex 1.07 on an XTrend 9200 running OpenPLi 3.0
* Server: 0.9.8.10 on a Synology DS413 NAS (so transcoding might be problematic)
My subtitles are stored as .srt files alongside my video files, and PMS detects them. Playing the video's from a desktop Plex client displays subtitles, but DreamPlex doesn't. I've only been able to get video using streamed mode, but before I invest time in getting the others working, I'd like to know if it's actullay worth the trouble wrt subtitles.
I guess I'm not the only one having troubles with this, so it might be enlightening if you could answer the following questions:
* What kind of subtitles are supposed to work (embedded/external, formats)
* In what playback types are subtitles supported (direct, streamed, transcoded)
I REALLY like the project, but I won't be able to use it if subtitles won't work...
I studied the code quite extensively, but I can't seem to find where the subtitles are actually passed to the MoviePlayer (or is that part of the problem?) Using Direct mode, will the movieplayer be able to find the srt files alongside the movie file?

Subtitles work when using transcode, but i can't get it to transcode aac5.1 to ac3. i only get pcm stereo out.
otherwise, this would be my ideal solution. for now, i am using the linux home theater version, cause it is the only way i get a reliable video/sound......
I got it working in Direct mode, now, but only if the srt file has the exact same name as the video, except for the extension.
I had some TV series where the subtitles were saved as .nl.srt (as they were dutch subtitles), and others where it was just .srt.
Of course it so happened that I just unknowingly kept trying the series with .nl.srt subs...
Yesterday I felt like watching a Futurama episode, which happens to have just .srt subs and subtitles popped up ;-)
I guess it is because in Direct mode the Mediaplayer browses for the movie file locally and finds the .srt alongside it and just uses that instead of using the ones provided via Plex.
Alas that doesn't work if you let Plex download your subs, since they are saved somewhere else (in the DB?).
At least I now know that subtitles can be made to work with DreamPlex without transcoding. Guess I'll have to get subliminal working on my Synology NAS and I'm all set. Halleluya!
Just wanna thanx DonDavici for this great plugin, I have been using it for a while now and works great.
Well great on my Dreambox DM500HD and VU+ Duo both running openpli 3.0,
but my VU+ Solo2 (openpli 3.0) I have a problem when I choose recently added tv shows I only get the episode number and no cover,
so its hard to see what show it is by just reading the description.
covers work fine if I choose all tv shows.
any suggestions.

@DonDavici - great work on this plugin...I just stumbled upon it and am very impressed with how it's working. I recently modified the plexbmc add-on to fit in with a skin I mod in XBMC: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=165481
The reason I mention this is when I go to my "On Deck" for TV shows I (as reported by eiddi) I do not see a poster and the TV Show name is missing...meaning I see for my Top Gear TV show only the text: "05. Lamborghinis and Caravaning" - so it is hard to know which TV show it is referring too. In addition the image inside the iPhone picture is a thumbnail of the show.
I made adjustments in the plexbmc add-on to get the season poster in this case...so instead of seeing the thumbnail you can see for example Top Gear Season 20 poster..this was done by getting the parent thumb as opposed to the current thumb. Hopefully you can include this in this plugin to make the On Deck TV Show section a bit better.

try tall list view,
whilst in TVShows or Movies, press BLUE button, it should goto tall list view mode. to save this press and hold BLUE choose save as default.
