DRM blocked by Plex

I know DRM was developed to prevent recording of “protected” media. I am using a HDHomeRun Prime and my cable provider has DRM on the majority of their channels (I am only able to pass 35 out of 508 channels through Plex).

Is there a way to “bypass” this DRM to allow Plex to pass these channels? I am using Plex to view on several TV’s in my home using a wireless network. The TV’s can view Plex, but the HDHomeRun app does not work.

I don’t think you will be able to use those channels … even with the HDhomerun app, you won’t be able to tune to them … if you access your HDhomerun web page and look at the channels it found they will also say DRM next to those channels … I have FIOS and they use it for FX, National Geographic, and couple of other channels …

Plex does not support bypassing the ‘copy-protection’ bit of tv channels.

I am able to view these channel using HDHomeRun app on my PC. I am trying to view these channels on my smart TV’s (which can run PLEX, but not HDHomeRun). Seems PLEX is not allowing DRM channels from being viewable. Don’t understand why they are blocked when DRM was designed to prevent recording (just block the recorder… not the viewer).

the hdhomerun app running on windows can do DRM because it utilizes the DRM capabilities that windows supports.

plex is OS-agnostic, so it doesn’t use OS specific functionality.
