Twice this has happened now…
Set up series record on Formula 1 coverage (Ch4 HD UK)
It has done the following…
Friday: Record Practice 1, ignored Practice 2
Saturday: Record Practice 3, ignored Qualifying
Sunday: Recorded Build-up, recorded Live Race, ignored Race round-up
I have checked and they were marked for record as part of the series, they were even there when I checked on Thursday evening. Come Friday and the first recording then I noticed that it had dropped practice 2 episode from the recording schedule. Saturday and sunday all looked fine. on Saturday when the practice 3 episode started recording then it dropped Qualifying but sunday was still looking fine. come sunday and when it started recording live race it dropped the final show.
This is not the first time it has done this either. Did it for the Monaco grand prix too. just seems to drop some of the shows. Don’t know if perhaps it is thinking that it has already recorded that episode or something but it’s really annoying. I have tried to edit the recording but cannot get the missing shows to re-appear.
Plex Media Server log file should tell you what happened. Just need to look through the log file around ahow start and end times to see what was happening.
don’t think I had logging enabled. Where would I turn logging on for this? what level of logging do I need to set? I’ll try it for next time the F1 is on
Settings/Server, If you see a Show Advanced link click it. Debug logging should be sufficient. Verbose logging is only necessary if a Plex Employee is asking for logs and needs the verbose logging. Make sure the “Allow Plex Media Server tokens in logs” is not selected. The next time it happens check the Plex Media Server log around the start and end times to see what messages are displayed.
right, that’s set. What am I supposed to be looking for in the logs then?
Any messages regarding the recordings.
new thing this time on F1 dropped recordings.
Recorded both shows as on Ch4 HD (highlights) but the recordings didn’t stop so I had a 25 hour long episode recorded at 1080p but at only 400kbps!
Think I’ve found the problem here. Specific to Formula1 coverage…
All episodes are set to record correctly. Records Free Practice 1, Free Practice 2, when it starts recording Free Practice 3 it then decides that it will drop the Qualifying episode as it thinks its a repeat of FP3 and it’s already recording a copy of that.
The hack/fix is to delete the FP3 recording when it finishes so it sits in recycle bin (windows) and it will then record Qualifying.
I need to check if once Qualifying has finished recording, if I recover FP3 from deleted items that it retains both FP3 and Qualifying…
I think this needs looking into and perhaps a manual override function built in so I can force a recording on a channel based on start/finish times
