DS218+ DSM 7 upgraded. This package is not supported on the platform of DiskStation or is incompatible with the current DSN version

Hello, I upgraded to DSM 7 not knowing all the headache it will cause with Plex.

I’m now trying to following the Plex migration instruction, but when I do the manual install using PlexMediaServer-1.24.5.5173-8dcc73a59-armv7neon_DSM7.spk (downloaded from Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More) , I keep getting the '…not suportted on the platform of DiskStation…" message. I have uninstalled DSM 6 Plex, and also restarted my NAS many times. Any idea what is going on please?

Thanks.

Please tell me which ARMv7 machine you have (Which NAS)?

Some Synology machines are ARMv7hf while others are ARMv7_neon.

Oh, its in the title, DS218+. Thanks.

I think I’ve downloaded and tried all the versions too :).

DS218+ is the 64 bit Intel

Sorry for not reading enough :man_facepalming:

Oh … I just assumed its all X18 series are ARMS…sorry for not reading enough myself too…LOL. Thanks and I’ll give it a go.

The X18’s are the mix. ARMv8, ARMv7hf_neon, and X86_64 :sunglasses:

The download page has X18 Series as ARM. Perhaps that page can be updated to be more clear? Think thats why I was assuming DS218+ was ARM.

Anyway, my Plex upgrade worked fine. Thanks again!

We tried to keep things simpler but

  1. There is a distinction in the Synology product line where they mixed ARMv7, ARMv7hf, and ARMv7hf_neon all together.

  2. This is the best we could come up with. DS218+ is X86_64, DS218 is ARM.

  3. With over 100 different Synology NAS models supported, there was no way to list them all in a concise manner.
