The naming and organization is perfect in my file structure. Anime is a lot more complicated than normal TV Shows in that certain shows have non-standard episode formatting: arcs instead of seasons, broadcast order vs blu-ray order, specials that are part of the episode order, shows that have “seasons” but those seasons are identified as other shows by Plex, also shows that have different watch orders based on who you ask, etc. It’s not a file structure issue, it’s just more complicated than typical TV.
Hi please help, I’m having a similar issue. Plex worked fine before DMS7 update. I did not uninstall before update and did click the repair option after the update. I’ve read several forms and made sure plex has full control in permissions for every drive. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling twice with no luck. I see all my content however it says unavailable and check if drive is mounted. I have 1000’s of movies and 100’s of tv shows that took hours organizing and I have already started over on plex more than once, I really don’t want to start over again and loose my hard work and time put into it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Verify you still have all the metadata in the Plex share (Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server exists and is not empty). If true, proceed.
-
Uninstall + ERASE (to remove the errant installation)
-
Control Panel - Security - Set the timer to 65536
-
Signout of DSM, restart DSM , Sign in – to use the new idle timer.
-
Download and install PMS from Plex.tv/Downloads
-
Observe it telling you how to fix permissions – Follow them.
-
Obverve migration kicking in because “Installing” spins for a while it processes all your metadata. Be prepared to wait a considerable amount of time. (2-3 minutes / 1000 indexed items (movies, episodes, photos, music tracks)

When complete, There will be a “Blue” bannered popup reminding you of the permissions settings procedure to grant PlexMediaServer permission to read youe media on DSM 7 (we do not use “Plex” user anymore)
Details of what changed, Migration instructions (screenshots), and then supplemental changes as of 1.24.2.4973 (new shared folder & structure)

Thank you Trumpy!!! The answer was in system internal users! I had to go into each folder where my content was located and edit permissions for system internal user “Plex Media Server” to read/write. The problem was that I was only editing local user permission for Plex in File Station and didn’t have the option of system internal user. I had to go to shared folder tap to get this option. Thank you all for your quick responses and helping me come to a resolution!
Hey Trumpy wondering if you know a solution, since the DSM 7 migration plex will not add/remove tv shows, it will however add/remove movies on the same drive. I’ve checked the permissions on all drives several times and am not sure what I’m missing. Plex plays my tv shows just fine. I’m also aware of the file naming issues and can confirm that is not the problem. Thanks for everything!
