DTS does not transcode on Chromecast with Google TV

Server Version#: 1.24.0.4897
Player Version#: 8.21.1.27073

I have a Chromecast with Google TV hooked up directly into my soundbar which is a Samsung Q700a and then the media server is a Synology DS1019+. I have audio passthrough set to HDMI and then on the Chromecast the audio formats are set to Auto (which means DD+, DD+ w/ atmos and AC3). It passes through all the audio I expect fine but DTS does not and the player can’t do it. What I expect is that the DTS would get transcoded, preferably to LPCM (or even FLAC). Is this something I can adjust myself? Or should this transcoding being working but it isn’t?

Thank you.

To add to the mystery, I tried disabling “Surround Sound” inside of CCwGTV and the result is now all the files get remuxed on playback, but it copies the full DTS 5.1 stream over and it plays back. The problem is now any of my DoVi files no longer have DoVi when remuxed, but that is a separate issue.

Try this, in the Plex client change passthrough to optical. If you enable only AC3 you will get a transcode to AC3, if you set AC3 and DTS you will get core DTS with a direct stream. MKV-MKV. I don’t know what this will do to your Dolby Vision. I didn’t have any DV files to test. It may do the same thing, but at least you won’t have to disable surround sound on the device.
