DTS-HD Master Audio not playing through on Apple TV 4K?

Server Version#: 4.69.1
Player Version#: Apple TV

Hello,

I’m trying to find information about the Plex app running on the Apple TV 4K. I have selected a video file that has DTS HD MA 7.1 , but when it plays through on our receiver, I only see PCM on the display. I believe this is because it’s not “Pass Through”. I had the same issue on our XBox 1 X and found that if I turned on Pass Through on the XBox, then I could see the actual decoding, versus PCM.

I haven’t seen anything on the Plex Server side, or in the Apple TV app that I could adjust.

Is this setting buried in there, or is there another issue?

Thanks,

JG

Thats because Apple TV doesnt not support the DTS format in any version. They op’d not to pay the royalties and instead got in bed with Dolby Atmos.

I would suggest going with an Nvidia Shield Pro if you want to have support for both Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD MA.

RN, thank you for the response. That certainly explains it.

I appreciate it.
