is it possible to get DTS to work at least "passthrough", since the FAQ says: "Does PlexConnect support DTS audio?: No because the ATV firmware does not natively support it."
Does that mean DTS always falls back to stereo sound or is it possible to pass the DTS sound to my Surround System which can handle DTS?

No, passthrough requires firmware support (you're asking the same question as the faq answers.)

it'll be strereo, but at some point down the track should be able to be turned into AC3 x.y instead.

What do you mean by that? Does PMS converts it into AC3?
When i use PlexConnect with files with DTS audio, PMS converts the DTS to Dolby Digital as far as i can tell (My receive receives 5.1 and calls it Dolby Digital)
There is an option in the advanced settings of the PMS audio prefs that will enable this i believe.
It is something added in a very recent version. I am running 0.9.8.

no it hasn't, but the change mentioned was not added in .9.8.0
Yeah, meant 9.7.28. But my point is the version that allows it is available now.

Thats what i did. Which tab is it then? In "Transcoder" i just have these optiones:
WebKit window visible
Enable Dolby Digital during AirPlay
Enable Media Link down-mixing of DTS audio.
Offer higher bitrates over 3G connections

Thx. That was it. The "AirPlay" confused me a bit :-)
Now it works and it shows "Digital".
