DTS to AC3 not working

I have a Sonos system so I need all audio to be converted to AC3, this is no problem on PHT (Windows) but on my RPi2 I only get stereo.
If I play a AC3 movie i get full DD 5.1.

Yes, I have made sure only AC3 is ticked under settings as well as speaker setup is 5.1, I’ve also tried both 1.0.1 and 1.0.3 of Rasplex, both with same result.

Is the RPi 2 too slow? Do I need a RPi3 for this?

RPi2 is fine, this feature will be in the next release.

Thank you for clearing that out, when is it expected to be released?
Is there any way of getting a beta build of it?

In 1.0.3, try disabling all Passthrough options and select Support 8 channel DTS-HD audio decoding.

Just tried that, but same result.

Was there any way to get a beta copy of the coming release?

No, sorry.

Ok, what’s the ETA on a public release then?

I tried v1.6 on a RPi B+ yesterday and couldn’t get it to transcode DTS to AC3.
Could it be I need a newer RPi or is it something else?

Has anyone got this working?

Just tried the same thing on a new RPi 3 with the exact same result :frowning:

You need to activate “Enable Dolby Digital transcoding” in the audio output preferences.
See http://kodi.wiki/view/Audio_settings for an overview of all options, OpenPHT uses similar options.

I can’t find that option in the GUI?

Check your device and channel option.

“This option is only available where the number of channels is 2.0, for SPDIF this is set automatically so this option is always available, if using HDMI then you may need to change the Number of Channels setting to 2.0.”

Wohoo, it’s working!
(but I would never had figured it out without your instructions, the gui could be more self-explanatory)

@ZyberSE

Have added this to my Audio Guide.
