Duplicate albums

Hello, I don’t understand why, but my server library shows duplicate albums, sometimes triplicate albums. On the hard drive, there is only one, but on the server it shows three of most albums. I tried creating a new folder for the music library and paste them in that but the same thing happened. I’ve tried deleting the library several times and retrying the above, pasting into a new folder, and scanning library as I go, and it works for a while, and eventually a bunch of duplicates show up. Can someone help?

  1. How are the files stored? Are they in a folder structure like this? https://support.plex.tv/articles/200265296-adding-music-media-from-folders/
  2. Is “Prefer local metatags” activated in the properties of the music library?
  3. Do you know the "Album Artist" meta tag? And if so, do you use it correctly – i.e. all tracks of one album have to be tagged with the exact same AlbumArtist
  4. Are your files also completely tagged with TrackNumber and DiscNumber (on multi-disc albums)?
