I have about 2000 albums and about 60% of them show up as duplicates but dont have duplicate folders with same songs and albums. Im stumped on this. Did a great job of importing and getting album covers etc but a TON of duplicates
Sounds like you might have a case of inconsistent embedded metadata in your files?
If album artist and album title vary across those files, Plex will usually consider them to be different albums.
hmmm. Any way to merge or de-duplicate?

Select both and click the Merge command from the multi-select action bar.

Edit:
The more sustainable approach might be to fix the inconsistencies… this way you won’t have to re-merge them manually in case something should happen to your server
