Not sure if this is a symptom of the same problem or not (didn’t check my music files before rolling back to the previous PMS server version because of my audio/video sync problems), but this particular update seems to be causing a variety of problems for people. For example, see these threads for some discussions about these problems:
I learned something today about the new music scanner.
I found I had duplicate tracks where I had thought my albums were perfectly curated.
As Music now works:
If you have (for example)
Alan Parsons Project/ Alan Parsons Project - Gaudi
and
Alan Parsons Project/ Guadi
Even though they are in different organization by release, both same Guadi album and will be listed twice (seen as different albums and hence produce duplicate tracks). Plex does not yet, and may never, automatically merge music like it does for movies and show a 2 in the album indicator.
I am going to write this up and see what Engineering thinks about the idea / use case.
@ChuckPa - Thanks for getting back to me, although I can confirm I dont have any duplicates and was all working fine until the recent upgrade.
Fingers crossed this is fixed soon, basically if I remove the album then re-add everything is displayed properly again, but i dont fancy doing this to them all as it would take some time
