I have created a new 4K Movies library where I am storing 4K HDR content now. If I pause and go to resume the movie it usually goes to resume using the lower quality version even though that’s not what I watched. Also, it seems to keep the same played time for both movies. Is there any way to separate them so it actually recognizes one as a “different” movie?
Here’s a trick I use…
Plex has probably combined the versions into one entry - you probably see a little “2” in the left hand corner of the poster in Plex web.
In the Plex web app, click the three dots and select “Split Apart” You’ll now have two movies with the same name.
Select one of the versions, and again select the three dots. This time choose “Fix Match” Don’t use the auto match feature, but choose “Search Options” Here, select a different agent than you movie library uses by default to match the movie. In my case, the default agent is “Plex Movie” so I choose “the Movie DB” to match for the alternate version
You will now have 2 versions that Plex considers completely different movies, with separate watched status, etc.
If they are in separate libraries, and you don’t see the “2”, the same fix match method will work. You can also change the default agent to one of the other agents for one of the libraries, and from that point on, each new addition in that library will have it’s own unique identification. I also use the “Do not show in On deck” option for one library, so that I don’t see duplicates in the “recently Added” and other hubs.
I’ll try that, thank you.
