Movie format issue

Hello,

I have two movie folders on my Plex server, one is called “Movies” and I keep files up to 1080p resolution and one is called “Movies 4K” and obviously I keep 4K movies in it.

My problem: I have a movie in 1080p resolution in “Movies” folder and again the same movie but with 4K resolution in “Movies 4k” (totally different files, situated in separated folders and in different Plex libraries), if I start playing the 4K version and I pause the movie let’s say after an hour, next time when I start playing from “Continue watching” (Plex dashboard) it it will automatically play the 1080p version. The only way I can start my 4K version again is if I navigate to “Movies 4K” folder and to the movie itself and start it from there.

So, is there a way to fix this annoying bug?

For Plex, these are merely 2 versions of the same movie.
If you are using the web app, try clicking on the ellipsis and pick ‘Play Version’

Is that true if they are in differnt libraries? I thought that if they are in differnt libraries (as @Robitza said) then Plex would treat them as seperate entities. Ya learn something new…

Plex tracks movies (and TV shows) based on the agent used. It doesn’t matter if they are in different libraries.

Fine by me, but why the format is changed? or at least why don’t pick the highest resolution?
