I have replaced lots of SHOWS on my PLEX servers with better quality. Unfortunately, in the DUPLICATES EPISODES, it’s always showing unavailable. This is the first time encounting this issue!
I have tried SCAN Libraries, empty trash, nothing is workin.

I am having the same issue, can’t get it to go away other than clicking “Delete Files” for each individual file.
Can anyone from devs confirm this bug? Empty Trash is not working with shows. Have to manually delete each files

This also happens with Movies. Removed the whole folder for a movie, rescan, empty trash, and it’s still there but unavailable nvm. works again for movies.
Well, if you delete the files from the HARD DRIVES and not from PLEX, this is when it happens.
Sincerly, I have been using Plex since a long time and I still do not know what the Empty Trash serves for.
What exactly is the path that is used in your TV library setting for folders?
I am not shure if this message is for me but K:\Series\Autre\480p. Please note the only half-solution is to remove the FOLDER and to RE-ADD.

You mentioned that you added new file to update qualities. but named the file the exact same and still in 480p folder. is there another folder there not in screenshot, for like 1080p?
If whatever you are using to get files putting them in folder for replacing them or are you manually moving new files in and removing the old?
Just trying to figure out what may be different (besides me being on a Mac) so i can try to reproduce
( and just an observation that you have a poorly named Season folder ( should just be “Season 01”) and that episode folder probably should not be there at all)
Was able to fix mine.
Click “Manage Library” then “Edit…”
Goto “Add folders” section.
Remove any folder that is added if it’s Empty.
Click “Save Changes”.
This will trigger another Scan for the library. Wait for it to finish scanning then do “Empty Trash”
I was also reorganizing my folders/files and forgot to delete the folder I emptied while doing this. Hopefully this fixes yours too
Yes, I know this works but it never had this issues in years. First time that happens to me. In other terms, I would have to do this every month since.
This is not a FIX. This is a workaround but the application needs a bugfix. But yes, knowing empty FOLDERS is a good start to troubleshoot.
In my case, I have an app running that monitors my movies folder and converts everything to h.265. File name stays but if the extension changes, I get this error and have to go manually delete the old one in plex for it to work.
