Opened PlexWeb today to find that some shows have some seasons marked with a garbage can indicating that some files can’t be found. However, all of the episodes that are in that season are present and play in Plex.
Is there somewhere where I can upload my logs privately? Side note, why does Plex log my public IP and my email address; it really always makes me hesitate when it comes to sharing logs.
Commonly seen when one episode is replaced with another.
Emptying the trash solves it.
Kind of afraid to try that. I didn’t touch any of those files in years.
If you use Get Info on the episodes that have the trash icon, what path(s) are listed? Is anything marked Unavailable, and if so, do those underlying files exist?
If the files are in place and accessible, perform a manual scan of the library. The behavior you describe most often occurs (in my experience) when the files are temporarily unavailable during a scan for whatever reason (network drives, external drives not available for some reason). A manual scan will leave you no worse off than you are now. Don’t empty the trash while they’re in this state though.

I had already done that, and there was no change.
In the library you’re seeing this
3 dots next to the library → Manage Library → Edit → Add Folders
Make sure you don’t have an old path added to that library. I had moved some content around on my file system one time and forgot to delete the old path.
Inside one of the season folders you can also click an episode. 3 dots → get info to see if there’s a 2nd copy hanging around in the background for those files.
I hate to suggest it, but if none of that pans out you may have to do a Plex dance and see if that cures it
Otherwise, you can take a look in your logs and make sure you don’t have some kind of database corruption going on
Download the zip to your file system and open it. Go to this file
IDK what you use but in Windows I open it using notepad and go to “edit → find”
Search “corrupt”
Then do a new search for “malformed” and see if you get any hits
Library is clean, and the logs are as well. Hoping it doesn’t come down to the Plex dance.
I bit the bullet, cleared trash and rescanned. No change 
Plex dance worked, which kind of sucks because I have a bunch of shows that are like this.
