DVD Order Agent

Same boat here.. OSX doesn't know what a .plexapp is and I've been all over the plex media manager and there's no 'install plex app' anywhere.

Copying the files to the plugins directory does nothing. I'm thinking it's not compatible with the latest plex.

Odd
I’m on OS X Lion and PMS 9.6.0, and the .plexapp worked fine for me when I double clicked it. It brought up the OS “do you really want to run this?” thing, then it installed and is working in PMS. When I get info on DVDorder.plexapp, it appears to be associated with “Plex Plug-in Installer.app”.

Try this. Go to your Applications folder, then right- (or control-) click on Plex Media Server.app and choose “Show Package Contents.”

You’ll now be inside the app bundle. Open the Contents folder, then Resources. Scroll down until you see “Plex Plug-in Installer.app.”

Leave that window alone for now.

Now, in another Finder window navigate to DVDorder.plexapp and Get Info on it.

Under “Open with:”, choose “Other
”.

It should bring up a window to select an application. Drag “Plex Plug-in Installer.app” onto the window, and it should jump to its location. Click Add.

Now, if all went well, the file should be associated with the installer; double click it, and see if it works.

I don't think the DVD order agent is intended to be used as a primary agent; if I understand correctly, you use TheTVDB agent for a whole section, then "Match Using" TheTVDBdvdorder on a series on a case-by-case basis.
So you can just ignore TheTVDBdvdorder on the left column. Instead, on the left select TheTVDB and then on the right enable TheTVDBdvdorder.

Thanks! That installed the plug-in perfectly. Unfortunately, it still didn't correct the episode order for Aeon Flux. Oh well, there's only a few episodes so I can match them up.

How can this be installed into the Windows (also Linux, I guess) Plex Media Server? I could not figure out how to get the .plexapp file to be recognized, nor could I find the equivalent of the Plug-In Installer, nor could I find a way to extract anything from the file. I had to fall back to the .zip version to get this to work...

Sooo
first off, thank you very, very much for this. My Firefly and Batman the Animated Series TV shows thank you. As does my “there is only one right order to watch Firefly!” self.

One thing I’ve noticed, and I’m not sure that it was mentioned. Has anyone else noticed Plex doesn’t seem to respect the ordering when it comes to the On Deck part?

For example, I’m watching “Season 3” of Batman, TAS with DVD ordering provided by this plugin. My next new episode to watch is #16, which I can see in my Recently Watched episodes that it is “Harlequinade.” But according to my On Deck, my next episode is Episode 22 of Season 3, which is metadata-ly correctly listed as “Showdown.” And, if I play that On Deck episode, it plays “Showdown.” The episode prior to “Harlequinade” is “The Terrible Trio” according to DVD order, and it is also the episode prior to “Showdown” according to aired order.

Is something wonky on my setup (latest Plex client and server, Mac OS 10.6.8, Mac mini) or is anyone else experiencing Plex not honoring the DVD sort order in On Deck?

Thanks.

oh my god
I got something really really wrong here :frowning: I added firefly to my library, I noticed the “aired order” issue, I found this wonderful plugin, I installed this and than matched firefly with this

firefly is now matched as Holmes on Homes O_O I try to fix the incorrect match but this still match as this show (??)

edit: I’m using a mac, pms 9.6.3

I would recommend that you remove Firefly from the folder that you have it in, rescan, empty the trash. Now re-add Firefly to the folder and try again.

If it does it again, I would recommend posting the log files.

SC

nothing, this keep happening.

which logs do you need?

Hi,

i’m also having the ‘holmes on homes’ problem!

I rescanned firefly, futurama, and dragonball Z, aaaand
now I have 3x times holmes on homes in my library 0_0

Looks like something went horribly wrong in a recent update

EDIT:

OK i found a fix!

Apparently, the metadata agent settings got screwed up somehow.

In the settings for both the normal tvdb agent as well as the tvdbdvdorder agent, both tvdb and tvdbbydvdorder were selected. Unchecking tvdb in the tvdbdvdorder settings and vice versa fixed the problem.

Holmes on Homes is gone

now I will try your fix, but I found him in others season posters O_O I mean, in example, I added the show Person of interest, then in the seasons posters I tryed to change and he was there! in the list of posters for that show. also in Falling Skies...

I hope he will disappear with this fix :D

EDIT: ok it's seems to be solved, but settings to add a new agent are a bit odd in my opinion. not very averege-user-friendly.
by the way, happy ending is good

I think the issue that our friend has (as well as myself) is that the TVDBdvdorder on the right side is ghosted and cannot check the box.

I'm reasonably tech savvy and i'm at a complete loss as to what i'm doing wrong here. I'm hoping someone can help as i just got plex and this is driving me crazy. I'm trying to get a series in DVD order. In order to do this i installed (via unzipping a folder into my plugins) the TVDBdvdorder plugin (using Windows7 64bit). After doing that, the "TheTVDBdvdorder" appears in my preferences under agent (left column). In the right column i have two options "theme music" and "dvdorder". Theme music is checked off, and i am unable to check off the box for dvdorder as it's ghosted.

I have at this point already used the normal TVDB as a scrapper on my series that i'd like in dvd format. I then try to refresh the library and re-scrapp it using the dvdorder, but it doesn't work. I also tried deleting the source, then re-adding it with just the DVDorder set, with no luck either.

I'm really frustrated and exasperated. Any help you guys can give me would be so very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

For those of you on OSX that are still not able to install the .plexapp files because it’s not associated to anything, here is how to do it:

  • Right-click on the .plexapp and select Open with > Other
  • In the Open with window, press Shift-Cmd-G to bring up the Go-to bar and type in /Applications/Plex Media Server.app/Contents/Resources
  • Click on the Plex Plug-in Installer, and make sure you check “Always Open With”

Next time, a .plexapp will automatically install

I have added the plugin and restarted Plex and I cannot get the DVD Order plugin to match properly. I am attempting this with Batman The Animated Series. When I match using TheTVDB all is well except for the out of order episodes. When I right click on the series poster and select ‘Match Using --> TheTVDBdvdorder’ it matches to Dawson’s Creek. I have the series folder named ‘Batman The Animated Series’ and so far I have one season sub-folder names ‘Season 1’. Any idea why the issue is? This is driving me nuts as I have reinstalled the plugin a couple of times now.

OK, I got it working. I had to deselect everything from the TheTVDBdvdorder plugin settings. Once I did that, everything started working as it should. Very nice to have the DVD order instead of the air date. Good work on this plugin!

Does anyone have issues with this plugin and multi-episode files?

I’m using PMS 0.9.6.9.240 on a Synology 212j NAS and I can’t get it to recognize this plug-in. It would be a lifesaver for me if I could get it to work (Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a nightmare of aired-order not matching DVD order).

Anyway, I did the following as indicated by previous posters
[]Copy the .bundle folder to /volume1/Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins

[
]Recursive chown to change owner to plex user

Restarted NAS and PMS
And the Media Manager still won’t list the DVD Order agent.

Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Incidentally, “Match using
” is also grayed out in my media manager context menu. But I wasn’t going to raise that issue until I actually got the proper plug-in installed because it seems of second-order importance

Nevermind. Got it to show up as an agent. Still have not tested to see if it works, however.

UPDATE: Now I am having the problem that lingo and stanley.yun are having; namely, that the “theTVDBdvdorder” agent shows up in my preferences menu, but when selected the checkbox next to the agent itself is unchecked and disabled in the right pane. Contrast this with the standard “theTVDB” agent, where when selected the checkbox next to the agent itself is disabled, but checked in the right pane. Also, FrozenTrout seemed to indicate that the “theTVDBdvdorder” agent should be available as an option in the right pane when “theTVDB” agent is selected, but this is not the case; “theTVDBdvdorder” does not appear in the right pane list when “theTVDB” is checked. The end result is that when I try to “Match using
” the dvd order agent, no metadata is populated for that show.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

UPDATE 2: Fixed (perhaps artificially?) the problem by editing the .xml file in Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Metadata Combination/com.plexapp.agents.thetvdbdvdorder/ to include “com.plexapp.agents.thetvdbdvdorder” in the list of agents. Now the Media Manager preferences menu shows the dvd order agent as enabled, but still no joy when “Match using
” on Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
