DVDFab settings to get Metadata for Plex server movie rips

I ripped a 4K Movie with DVDFab 11 (MP4) and Plex pulled in the correct full metadata, including movie description, year, rating, etc. However, I then ripped a 1080P Blu-ray to MKV format and Plex didn’t show any metadata besides runtime and 1080P. Do I need to change DVDFab settings to get the metadata in, or is this a Plex configuration issue? New to both so could well be user error/education issue.

plex can read mp4 metadata from the file tags, if they are embedded and the ‘local media assets’ agent is enabled.

plex does not read any metadata from mkv files, so it must rely on the folder/filename.

for proper naming see @ https://support.plex.tv/articles/?s=Naming&search=support_articles

Thanks! Any reason why I should NOT rip 1080P content to MP4s (vs. MKV) since it can do embedded metadata? I only care about the main movie and primary HD audio track.

not that I am aware of, but regardless of container, you should ensure your files are named properly.

Awesome thanks
