DVR and Live TV Either Unreliable or not working at all

Right now live TV is not working at all. It just failed another recording too. When it does work it’s hit and miss if it actually records. I’ve restarted the server but it’s still not working. Is there anything else I can do?

What does Live TV not work on?

My live tv does not work on lenovo yogabook with intel atom processor. All other features work. Works on samsung galaxy s6 just fine.

That’s because it won’t work on that.

As of now only Android TV, Android, IOS and Apple TV. No web client, Plex Media Player(PMP), XBOX etcyet?

Now that being said, If you are using a silicondust tuner you can install this awesome little Plex channel for the time being:

and then you can ignore my previous post.

Apple TV and my IOS devices.
I’ve found that restarting the server sometimes fixes it but not always. It’s pretty much unusable so far.

So, we’ll do this one post at a time.
What DOES happen?
What versions of everything are you running (and please do not say “the latest”, give the exact version numbers)?
What tuner are you using?
Can you access the tuner from any other app and if so, is it working there?

It works perfectly on my iPads, iPhones and ATV4 so help us help you with more info.

Various things do happen. At this moment when I try to access live TV on the ATV4 I get that rotating thing like it’s trying to do something and then it returns to the the previous page without actually doing anything.
While it’s attempting to do this the HD Homerun Connect (Version 20170707beta2) has a flashing green LED.
The same thing happens on my iPhone except it returns the error message “Uh-oh! Couldn’t create the playback session of this item”

HD Homerun Connect (Version 20170707beta2
OS 10.12.6
Plex Version 1.8.0.4109
I’m not sure how to tell you what the IOS of the Apple TV or iPhone is so I’m afraid I will have to say the latest.

Not at the moment. But sometimes yes, although not for a few days now.

It sounds like your signal is weak.
Silicon Dust offers a couple of apps that yoou can run on your Mac that can help.
I am assuming you are trying the HDHomeRun app on the amc to try and view TV on your computer?
They also have an app called HD HomeRun Config that will show you the signal strength coming in for a channel that is trying to be used.

You can also try the Plex channel that @SiscoPlex mentions 4 posts above and see if that works.

Ok. So I have bypassed everything else in the aerial chain and now the aerial goes straight in to the HD Homerun. There seems to have been an improvement. That is I now get a solid green led rather than a flashing one. However, on the apple tv it will play for about 20 secs and then freeze and then go back to the live tv page. On IOS it’s equally as flakey but instead of going back to the program guide it will start playing again. After about 3 minutes though it completely gives up. Now it may well record ok - I haven’t retested that and for now I’m not willing to risk it so I’ll reconnect the set top box until the current series I am recording has finished.

I would head over to the silicondust website. Post there, they will likely have you turn on diagnostics for that tuner and they will check it out for you.

I would get it working with SiliconDust’s software and then continue on to Plex if there is still an issue after that.

Yeah, done that. They haven’t been much help. All I got from them was a request to do something on terminal which I guess sends them diagnostic info. Giving up for the duration of the series I don’t want to miss.

I’m back trying to solve this.
Recording works sometimes.
Live TV works for a short time but then freezes. I then get a message saying “weak signal.”
I’ve tried a few different cables to the aerial socket on the wall. That made no difference.
My freeview tuner/recorder works perfectly fine, so if the issue really is a weak signal that box is not troubled by it.
I’m in an apartment building with a distributed feed to all apartments. So before I request that someone comes to check the signal strength is there anything else I can/should do?
