I have an AppleTV with the latest Plex application on it and the latest version of Plex on the computer as well. I have the HDHomeRun hooked up to an antenna. I can see the channels in the lineup that were found but when I click on LiveTV and a specific channel/program on the Apple TV, the application spins and then doesn’t actually show any video or audio. This happens on all of the channels. I have the server logs. What should I look for in the server logs to determine what the issue might be?
Same problem on other Android TV devices, such as my MiBox. No live tv, spinning wheel of death. Exoplayer v2 and plex not playing the live tv stream. Hopefully we will get a response soon, other threads with same issue.
For what it’s worth, HDHomeRun firmware is up-to-date and the same behavoir happens on the website when trying to view a OTA channel (just spins and spins).

Web client is not supported at this time through native Plex Live TV integration.
Try the HDHRviewer channel for plex for the time being:

Working like a champ on my ATV 4. Watching it right now as I type this, been watching for about 20 minutes now.
Do you have anything else you can test with to see if it works at all for you? Android TV or iPad/iPhone? Or the HDHR app to watch on a computer on your network?
I neglected to mention I have HDHRViewer. When I do this on the web and
click a program, it either spins and never does anything. I did get it to
show one channel so maybe it’s a signal issue and I can reposition the
antenna elsewhere.
When on the AppleTV, I get some message about either the transcoder stopped
responding or crashed (not in front of the TV at the moment so the verbiage
isn’t exact).
So what are all of your specs?
What tuner are you using, what is your server, what version of PMS are you running (and please do not say the latest), etc.
You’re not alone. Live Tv worked ok on my Android TV Mi box up until the recent app update. Since then can’t tune to Live TV, just spinning Ng wheel of death as well. The rest of the Plex app works fine.
My PMS is on a macmini i5 2011 with the absolute latest version of the Plex Pass server (1.8x) and the absolute latest version of the Android tv app. HD Home Run connect on the latest firmware (beta1 released in June)
My Apple TV Plex does play SOME of the channels but it’s not reliable at all with some channels not loading or cashing back to the Now Playing screen after a few seconds.
Naturally Live TV works perfectly fine from ALL other apps apart from Plex (Channels app on ATV, MrMC , Kodi, Live channels on a Android, HD Homerun app etc)!
Apple TV Plex App version 1.14 (6321).
Plex application on iMac (2011) - 1.8.0.4109 with Plex Pass (lifetime)
HD HomeRun Extend (DTC-2US) with firmware 201706012beta1
Verizon FIOS 100/100 Mbps
Sound like it might not be a strong enough signal.
Can you try with the Silicon Dust app on the Mac and see if it works that way?
I do not know what to look for in the logs but if you post them here someone might be able to help. I would create a new set of logs (Stop PMS, start PMS, then recereate issue, wait a minute or 2 and pull logs).
I’ve moved the antenna to a better position and still get ‘unable to play’
in the HDHomeRun app on the Mac so I guess I can rule out Plex being the
issue although I wish I knew what logs to look at to see what the issue
might be.
And if you post the logs, someone would probably be able to help you.
Logs attached.
Ok, hopefully someone who knows how to read them will come along.
But if you cannot even get a signal with the HDHR app on the Mac does not bode well for having success with Plex.

I would head over to the silicondust forums and post your problem there. They will be able to tell you what is going on, They will have you turn on diags for the device.
