It appears that for at least 3 days my EPG has stopped receiving updates. When I do a manual update I see a bunch of warnings and errors in my log. Ever since the switch to the new EPG source I’ve been having 2-3 day holes in my schedule. A manual update has fixed it in the past but now that’s not working. What’s going on?
try this -
downgrade to 1.16.0
delete the DVR (This will not delete any scheduled recordings)
upgrade to 1.16.2
add back your DVR
upgrade to most current 1.16.3
I’ve already deleted my DVR once before. What would downgrading do that just deleting the DVR won’t?
Possibly fix the issue you’re having by having the software properly delete the DVR.
I’ve just done this and I still have no EPG for August 3-5. I realize that’s just under 2 weeks out but until the EPG change I’ve never had problems with Plex keeping the EPG updated. In fact, it used to be slightly further out at 15 days.
Attention Plex Developers,
Please participate in this conversation and enlighten us as to what is happening!!!
I also have lost all EPG updates since Monday this week (7/22/2019). All DVR recording are not scheduled and lost. I recall it’s been about 5 months since the last issue. During the previous event there was zilch, nada, radio silence from Plex on the issue. I wasted time converting to XMLTV and went back to Plex’s native EPG which magically worked after about a 10 day outage. The forums were scorched with EPG issues and not a single announcement from the Plex team.
For goodness sake provide some level of transparency and help us understand what’s happening! I get it – there are a lot of moving parts to the software. You ingest EPG content that you pay for. I paid for a lifetime subscription and the EPG updates were a part of that ongoing service. If you no longer support EPG then admit it and and provide a software update that allows integration into SchedulesDirect!!!
Sincerely a disappointed customer!
My understanding is that Plex switched from gracenote to their own epg system.
This caused some issues and depending on your setup might require the steps I mentioned above.
Mine has been happy and stable for about a month since I went through those steps.
I hope Plex chimes in to the conversation.
They switched EPG data providers — this is obvious from the thread where data issues are being reported by a Plex person as solved by the provider.
With this provider however they can augment the data in ways they we’re not allied with Grace note.
That still doesn’t work because i have 2 tuner receiving different City’s but can only select one Guide that means that one of mine tuner is useless now. YOU gotta change that!
Yeah, Plex hasn’t announced the availability of that. It’s been less than a month with the new data provider and in case you haven’t noticed they’re still working out the kinks
BUT it work before YOU did that update
how can i do d downgrade
Really? I didn’t think that was supported.
Also, it’s not “ME”, I’m just helping out the forums…
yes it worked fine.
You right in behalf of Plex don't be surprised when you get
critics and blame for it.
Oh by the way where do i find the listing what was changed /
fixed so i can skip updates next time.
I don’t write on behalf of Plex. I help out other Plex users. Except when they’re mean.
I’m now on four days in August with no EPG. I did report my problem through the EPG trouble form this morning. No change on their spreadsheet.
oh I’m mean ? no just frustrated ! there more and more bugs
surfacing and no one reacts or take care of it.
Like why cant i play my favorite album in ones or why can i
create a play list for my users.
still no decent picture slide show and now that with the program
guide so i affects the video section. Instead creating new thinks
fix the old Bugs.
Had i known what a bad costumer server they offered never paid
for the Plex Pass
I have been using version 1.6.1.3722 for about 18 months. I used this version exclusively for the DVR. Aside from the one EPG issue it worked great up until Monday 7/22/2019. As of Monday there is no EPG content.
EDIT: Per this announcement by Plex the older versions of Plex would not receive EPG updates after July 1st.

I also run a current version of plex (1.16.1.1291) for accessing all content on my iPad, FireStick, etc. I never used the DVR feature in the newer version as I had issues with missed recordings and other “glitches”
I setup the DVR in the current version last light and setup all my recordings and making notes of the shows that are not yet in rotation to add later. Thus far the new version has recorded several shows without issue.
I owe the Plex team an apology for my previous rant. I apologize for my curt response and pointed words. I should have given the current version a test run before scorching the forums.
One final note. The guide in the new version looks great. I currently use Emby for steaming live content. I may be able to use the new Plex live TV and no longer use Emby. Fingers crossed that we have reached a point where the DVR and Live TV are stable in Plex!
Well, after 5 days I started getting EPG data again. I had to run a manual EPG update so that it would fill out the missing days.
It’s definitely a problem that if there is a break in EPG service that it doesn’t automatically fill out missing data. Seems like this logic needs some tweaking.
