DVR Function is deleting recording that are NOT part of DVR.
System is setup with
/PLEX/TV driectory
/PLEX/DVR.TV directory
TV contains long term stored programs
DVR.TV contain only recent recordings
If a program is still being shown live - say BLUE BLOODS - The DVR funciton is going into the BOTH Directories and aging out BLUE BLOOD programs. It should only go the directory it was told to use /PLEX/DVR.TV in DVR.TV library.
I am lucky that I have not lost actual recordings, since I only allow PLEX to links to programs and it deleting those links. But I have keep recovering the lost information every 24 hours. I have also lost view history since it keeps deleting the “files”.

The episode retention preferences are working globally.
And not per library (or folder).
If you want to prevent Plex from deleting your “good” media (i.e. those which haven’t been DVR’d), revoke its permission to write to these folders.
