DVR Function With Hauppauge

If you cant get it to work, we’ve seen reports that uninstalling wintv8 entirely fixes it.

Sorry I need win tv and I need access to my other tuner, there apparently doesn’t seem to be anything wrong, it shows the xbone tuner as available in wintv8, drivers are installed. not sure if you are aware or not, but the only way to install hauppage drivers is with wintv

Naw, I downloaded them from their support page, then ran Plex fine. No winTV8 needed.

link? I have a second win 10 box with no tuner as a backup plex server, I am going to install it on this machine, ill dig through support again but I never found a driver alone so if you know wherer the xbone driver is hook me up, ill post test results from that machine

you are correct they are now on there for windows 10 only, this is the first time they have posted stand alone drivers, they were hidden on a tab I wasn’t noticing labeled windows 10. ive been using these tuners since xp so my info was dated lol

No go, rebuilt extra box fresh windows 10. loaded xbone tv tuner driver successfully, loaded PMS, wouldn’t even find device, loaded wintv8 configured usb tuner, worked just fine, went back to plex, wouldn’t detect, sorry LOTS of bugs need worked out in this for it to be functional

Please, have patience, this is a first release and it functions fine. I personally have a Xbox One tuner right here I’ve used it with.

Without posting logs, we can’t help figure out the issue.

Uninstall wintv8, and reboot. Go into Plex, and try to configure the tuner. If you dont see it, post your Plex Media Server.log and your Plex Tuner Service.log.

Please let us know once there is an update to support the 2250. Thanks!

thanks keithah, I am not trying to be impatient, I am happy with how plex works for me now, just through the course of this entire thread have come to the conclusion that its just not ready yet, I have already connected it back to my xbox (I have no portholes in my wal so I have to try and maintain a neat bundle of wire hidden running around the side shelf to the tv above the fireplace, this means I have to use a ton of zip ties, I’m kinda done troubleshooting it, and will probably not ever try the xbox one usb tuner again, I will wait for 2250 support and a little more stability. and the ability to work with wintv8 also, not running at the same time, I don’t use WinTV for active scheduling or anything like that but I need it for analog capture.

like mentioned above, let us know when several setups have been tested and working with the 2250 and I will make a b line right back to the dvr setup.

also it might be noted to look at the code for the dvr pages, they only seem to work well in edge, IE11 although 1 version outdated is still the browser of choice for many since its not so cryptic with favorite links.

UPDATE, I was able to finally get this working, it will not work with a pc that already has a tuner card in it, plex can detect the usb tuner but if their is a pci-e tuner in the pc it cannot scan the channels, it gets confused even though it thinks its recognized the usb tuner that is compatible it never turns it on for channel scan, this is noticed as the activity light on it will NOT come on, so if you have multiple tuners and you want to go ahead and get it to work before support is added for your tuner card, youll have to pull it, I also tried this will all win tv services disabled, it still doesn’t work.

my problem with second PC is plex would not update to latest version, even though I signed in as plex pass user, I had to drill down and change the update source from public to plex pass, then I got the updated version that had added some tuner support, after that the second fresh win 10 pc with no WinTV installed and just the win 10 driver and the xbox usb tuner and plex installed worked, it was able to detect the device, scan the channels and find them all without an issue, I schedule one recording “bonanza” and it created the proper TV show structure and added the season, and then put the episode in the list, so is working that way.

note if you have a defunct coax cable by your computer you can connect it to the tuner, go outside and pop open the Comcast or directtv box and connect that cable and that one alone (don’t use a splitter, just a single joint connector and hook up one of those square RCA antennas to it, shut the box, secure the wire and mount it on the underside of your house somewhere where its safe from most of the rain, makes for excellent signal!

I am pleased to report that with the latest update (1.7.5.4035) from earlier this week, Plex is now recognizing both of my Hauppage WinTV tuners, and I am able to use the DVR functionality. I don’t have a client that supports the Live TV yet. Hoping that Plex adds support for the other clients soon.

yep, working for my 2250 dual tuner now too, a little glitch on recording from both the tuners at once, it works but apparently doesn’t know which tuner to change channels on for a recording coming up, it killed tuner 2 which was recording a 2 hour movie when tuner 1 just got finished with a 30 minute episode and was free to start the next episode

@AshTray900
I haven’t noticed any problems like that yet. My summer recording schedule is very light. When I first set it up, I did do a small test by setting up 3 recordings to run at the same time so that it would utilize both tuner cards (2 tuners on each card). Everything worked well. I found a couple of shows to add last week to add from the program guide, and all of those have recorded fine. But, I can’t say that I’ve put any serious load on the system yet, and I probably won’t until the fall/winter TV schedule kicks off. However, if anyone on the Plex team would like me to try something in particular to help out, please let me know what sort of test you’d like to see, and I’ll try to run it if possible.
