Sometimes it records, sometimes it doesn’t - we don’t know until we go to watch the next episode and it’s not there. And there’s no description or reason why it failed - it just isn’t there.
Can anyone help me figure out why shows are failing to record?
A few weeks ago, my Plex quit recording shows and quit reporting why they were failing. When the recording would fail, it would just mysteriously remove the show from the Recordings view as if it wasn’t supposed to record.
I use a WD PR2100 NAS and I tracked it down to an issue with the library folder. When an airing of Bar Rescue didn’t save (and the issue had been happening for several days but the view wasn’t telling me, it was just deleting the recordings so I wasn’t notified), I went into the Recording Priority to verify the library folder was correct and I changed a setting (Continue Recording from 0 to 1) and saved the settings again to force an update. The next airing saved successfully so I modified/saved all of my recording preferences again and that solved my problem. Something must have gotten messed up in the database and when I modified/saved the recording settings, it corrected the library issue and my shows could save again.
Not saying that is the same issue, but you might have some luck in trying the same thing…
And now Plex deleted the recording so I can’t see that it failed any more. Ugh!
Both recordings tonight were on the same channel. So maybe it’s that specific channel that Plex is having a hard time with. I can watch live TV on that channel just fine.
Sorry I couldn’t be more assistance. Were you able to identify any common elements? Is it a specific channel that is failing? Do you have multiple tuners? Is there a specific tuner that is failing?
The next step could be, identify a show that normally fails. Before the next showing, restart your server, turn on debugging (not verbose) and wait for the recording to finish/fail. Once it’s finished check the logs (or post the, here for someone to check out)
