DVR is unable to Read/Write to Folder on a 2nd Windows PC

HD HomeRun Quatro
2 Windows 10 PCs, the 1st has the PMS, the 2nd is just DVR storage

Hooked up my HomeRun Quatro last week, pointed storage at my TV library on a new folder on a 2nd Windows PC in the house. Everything was working great, I was able to record and watch TV from that folder fine until I rebooted the 2nd PC that has the DVR folder. I later went to continue watching a show. I got the Continue prompt but then just the spinning circle. Same if I Start from begining. I can no longer DVR record or play anything from/to that folder. Its like Plex can only show whats in the folder it but can no longer play anything or accept new files from the DVR. If I DVR to the PMS’s PC hard drive, everything works.

I played with network sharing (Security now includes read/write Everyone) and am able to move files to it from other devices. I’ve tried Plex Web, Apple TV and FireTV Plex.

I’ll attempt to attach the Plex Media Server log here. And thanks!!!

Is the DVR folder on a network drive? Try to disconnect that drive. and map it to the windows pc again.

I’m able to remove the folder path from the library and then add it again. No luck.

Does the Windows user name/account, under which Plex server is running
exist on the ā€œfile serverā€ as well, with an identical password?

Did you add the network share as a drive letter or a UNC path?

Before I even had a chance to try those fixes I rebooted my folder PC and now everything is working again! I’ve since read both you links and I’ll keep those issues in mind should this happen again. I’ll go ahead now and do that network adapter empty trash tip!

My best guess is that the earlier reboot somehow caused a change in my read/write network permissions. The only thing I fiddled with was checking the properties of all the devices and folders in the path the HD and making sure they allowed ā€œEveryoneā€ and read/write. Apparently though changes like that also require a reboot. I reboot broke it, and a reboot fixed it.

Thank you, Otto!
