[DVR] Match Game, Literally: Override DVR Ep. Placement?

I am trying to record two TV shows: “Match Game (1973)”, and “Match Game (2016)”.

The DVR is naming the 1973 series episodes as “Match Game (1962) - 2018-08-05 11 00 00 - Episode 08-05.ts” and storing them in the “Match Game (2016)” folder in a “Season 2018” folder.

  1. If the DVR names episodes based on the EPG data, then the EPG data is wrong. It should be “Match Game (1973)” not “Match Game (1962)”. They are two distinct series.

  2. TheTVDB data on the 1973 series is also problematic. It lists this series as “Match Game 73” which is awkward as it aired from 1973 to 1979 and changed names each year: “Match Game 74”, “Match Game 75” etc. It also includes a 1962 episode as a special, which should be listed in a separate series called “Match Game (1962)”. That makes TheTVDB think the series aired from 1962-1979. These two issues might be causing matching errors as well.

I can try to change the data at TheTVDB but I can’t change the EPG data. I submitted a change to Plex using the Google Doc form here: Google Doc For EPG Issues but it’s not guaranteed it will be fixed.

In the meantime, is there a simple way to override this? For instance, force the DVR to put episodes from Channel A into “Match Game (1973)” and Channel B into “Match Game (2016)”? The summary information wouldn’t show up but at least it would be listed as two different series.
