This is a must have to gain wife approval to switch.
Yes Please!!
I would like for options to list the channels by channel number, channel name, and to have a favorites list.
I think a great place for this would be the drop down that lists: Discover, Watch Now, Movies, Sports, News, etc…I’d like to see more options to display the same information in different ways. There are times when any of these different methods are beneficial. I definitely would like the default view to be as is, because I like the way Plex has organized the EPG. It is innovative, and blends right into the rest of the media center.
+1 also to this request
I’m just fine with the current guide, but a traditional guide wouldn’t hurt either. I’m currently pretty much the only one in my family who uses the DVR, mainly because I set up the server and I know how to use the software. It’s not exactly noob friendly (although my family does know how to choose a movie or show to watch).
Yes, please provide a grid format schedule
We need a grid guide just like Emby or like a regular cable box
I agree. Just set this up tonight and it is NOT wife approved. Sticking with cable until this is changed.
I would also love a grid view. Be convenient to find shows by channel and time.
At long last… I have an update to share! Grid-style EPG is something we all wanted, customers, employees, lab rats, everyone. It’s not the only way to browse content on TV, but it is a familiar approach we have come to know over decades of cable and satellite box use. So why don’t we have it yet? I’ll get right to it.
Is Plex going to implement a grid view?
YES, we are planning to add a grid view! More than just planning, we expect it sometime in the next few months, before the end of the year (can’t provide an exact date). That is our hope, though not guaranteed.
What’s taken so long?
Grid view was covered by many patents and initially was shelved due to legal concerns. Thanks to feedback from users (and even employees), the point came where we had to figure a way to do this. I’m thrilled to write that we are now working on it!
Stay tuned!
Thanks for the update! This is great news.
So glad to hear that this is coming. It’s a must for me to really cut the cord and use Plex as my main TV viewing/recording solution.
Me to it good to hear that it coming
Very happy to hear this long overdue feature of a full grid guide view will finally make it to Plex. It’s really the main missing feature that will bring everything together.
Have to agree! A grid is an absolute must. Thank you, Plex.
I’ll also point out that I have no objection to the way Plex does organizes its guide data in its “oh so Plexy way”. I just have an objection to it being the only way because its somewhat unorthodox for being compulsory.
So yes, a traditional guide grid would be awesome in addition to how Plex handles guide data now. However, I don’t what to see Plex users who are used to how things are now forced into only using a more traditional guide grid. I feel as if it should be optional and if there are those that want to opt out they should be able to choose the option that fits their preferred navigation methods.
Having said that,…
If you need beta testers for your new upcoming Guide Grid feature option, I am your man!!! I’m all over it. I have a number of different boxes I can run Plex Media Server on (Windows and Linux (Synology DSM)) and I live in an area well covered with guide data in Plex (NYC). I can test with both OTA and CableCard. I will test the heck out of this new feature and give detailed feedback!!! I also have a lifetime Plex Pass (worth every penny).
I think I speak for everyone here when I say, I look forward to seeing the Plex dev team’s efforts on this full guide grid project!
A Channel Guide was added to Live TV, per the latest Plex Web 3.23.1 (changelog here).
There is now a button at the bottom of the live TV screen, as circled in blue:

Example Channel Guide (I’d like to see more of the channel names to show up, or even better would be channel logos:
Is there anyway response to whether this feature is being considered for development and when we might expect a release? It’s a big deal for me as well. I love Plex and have jumped all in. Have my second HDHOMERUNPRIME now with over 200 channels. Not exactly cutting the cord but definitely cutting the DVR monopoly. Awesome that I can centrally serve all my content…

Happy to provide some info on this. And by this I believe you are referring to the traditional “grid style” view of the program guide. I posted an announcement in the DVR & Live TV forum on September 28th here. It’s coming very soon! Sorry I can’t provide an exact ETA. It was delayed because of patent/legal concerns that have since been cleared. I’m also looking forward to having the option of viewing the program guide in multiple ways ![]()
Hear, hear! I am assuming by the number of complaints/requests that this feature is not even on the drawing board. I suspect that there may be “proprietary information” involved which may result in Plex having to pay for the right to display the guide in this manner. If this is the case, I would rather buy the guide myself (like Emby does), and let Plex give it back to me. Not sure I can put up with this short coming much longer. Especially during the fall season of new shows starting. I have no idea of what is coming on after tomorrow. And bty, what’s up with that news feed? That’s another discussion altogether.
