DVR Recording no longer works

Hi

I am running Plex on a QNAP TVS-1282T3 with a HD Homerun turner as a DVR. It has been working great for almost a year both on this QNAP and a previous Synology box.

Last week it stopped recording new shows. The shows appear to record and they indicate they are 100% recorded, however there is no file in the associated directory. Also the recording timer appears to never turn off. If you look at an individual show, the show has the recording red button still showing even though the details say 100% recorded. Also it looks like multiple recording streams remain open (I saw up to 18). They remain open for days.

Here is what I tried:

  1. Updating the firmware on the HD Homerun. Shut it down.
  2. Updated to the most current Plex server for QNAP. Shut the service down.
  3. Deleted all of the recording timers.
  4. Deleted any shows that appeared to be hung.
  5. Brought everything back up.
  6. Verified that live TV is working via Plex. It is.
  7. Problem was exactly the same.

I am current on all versions of software (Plex, HD Homerun firmware, QNAP, client playback devices (Apple TV, iOS devices)

Thanks in advance for any ideas that folks have.

Sounds like the dreaded “100% recording” bug. Search the forums. Not sure what the fix is. Some folks have rolled back to PMS v1.6.1. You lose Live TV but it seems to fix.

Usually when this happens, the ‘temp’ files are in the .grab directory. It will be located in the directory for the library that you were recording to. Restarting the server usually clears them out. If you haven’t restarted, you might be able to go into that folder and rescue some recordings.

Thanks Chris, I searched the forum for the “100% recording” bug and found the main thread. Sounds exactly like what I am seeing. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.

I have restarted the server a few times, so I’m guessing the recordings are gone, but thanks for where to look.
